LA GRANDE, Ore. - No. 24 Eastern Oregon was back in action Tuesday afternoon as they took on the No. 8 Yotes of the College of Idaho in a double header. The Yotes showed to be too much for the Mounties as they took both by a game one score of 4-0 in 8 innings and game two by a score of 5-4.
GAME 1
Game one was a pitcher's duel. The Mounties were led in the circle by last week's conference Pitcher of the Week, Kaylie Hoskins. Hoskins went the distance for the Mounties, allowing seven hits in eight innings of work while adding 17 strikeouts for the third time this season. The Yotes were led by Katelyn Wilfert who allowed just six hits in eight innings of work while adding eight strikeouts. One swing of the bat showed to be the difference in the ball game as Hattie Hruza cleared the bases with a two-out grand slam over the center field fence in the top of the eighth inning, giving the Yotes a 4-0 lead. This was all Wilfert and the College of Idaho needed as they were able to close Eastern out in the bottom of the eighth, taking game one by a score of 4-0.

GAME 2
The Yotes jumped out to an early lead in game two after a Tanner Higgins single through the left side scored one. College of Idaho tacked on four more runs in the top of the fifth inning after a Hattie Hruza single brought two runners home and another Higgins single, this time up the middle, scored two giving the Yotes a 5-0 lead. The Mounties did not go away as they scored their first run of the afternoon after a Kelly Monahan single up the middle scored one. Eastern made a run in the bottom of the seventh, started off by a Haley Tyree solo home run over the center field fence followed by a Gates Leatherwood double to left field that scored one to bring the score to 5-3. A fielding error by the Yotes allowed Leatherwood to score, bringing the Mounties within one. This was as close as Eastern would get as the Yotes ultimately closed the game out to take a 5-4 game two victory.
