HERMISTON, Ore.- Eastern Oregon was back in action Saturday as they took on Southern Oregon in Hermiston, Ore. due to weather and field conditions at Eastern Oregon University. Southern took both games of the double header by a score of 6-5 after extra innings in the first and 13-5 in the second.
Game One
The bats were quiet for both teams for the better part of the first five innings of the first game as neither team could produce a run. Southern broke the 0-0 tie in the top of the sixth. A Sammie Pemberton double to right center scored the first run of the game which was followed by a Riley Donovan single through the left side which scored Pemberton. Eastern did not go away, bouncing back and scoring two runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game up at 2-2. An Addison Ribordy single through the left side and a Gates Leatherwood walk set up a Jessica Touchard double to right center scoring both Ribordy and Leatherwood.
After seven innings of play the score was tied up at two sending the matchup to extra innings. Southern tagged on four runs in the 8th capped off by a Ashton Cathey two-run homer to left field giving Southern a 6-2 lead. Eastern did not go away quietly tagging on three runs of their own before ultimately falling to the Raider 6-5.

Game Two
The second game of the double header kicked off and Southern picked up right where they left off. Southern scored two runs in the first inning after a Riley Donovan two run home run to right field. The Raiders tacked on two more runs in the top of the second after a Deja Acosta single to right field scored two. Eastern responded in the button half of the second, scoring three runs of their own after Caitlin Crist drove in two runs on a double to right center, an error by SOU allowed Crist to score, taking the score to 4-3. The Raiders extended their lead scoring one run in each of the next four innings taking the score to 8-3 after 6 innings of play. SOU tacked on another five runs in the top half of the seventh inning taking the score to 13-3. Eastern got back two runs in the bottom of seventh after a Hannah Tyree two-run home run to center field but it was not enough to overcome the Raider lead. SOU ultimately took the game 13-5.
