LA GRANDE, Ore. – No. 14-ranked Eastern Oregon hit the road Friday evening to take on the Geoducks of Evergreen State. EOU overcame a small first-quarter deficit to beat Evergreen 74-58. With the win the Mounties advance to 25-2 overall and 20-1 in CCC play.
The Mounties didn't have the best night shooting going 28-76 from the field but played strong enough defense to take the win. Evergreen came out firing to take a 15-12 advantage after the first quarter shooting it well from deep going 3-4. The Mounties answered and eventually took control of the game with a big third quarter outscoring the Geoducks 32-16. The combination of
Bayley Brennan,
Shaelie Burgess, and
Sailor Liefke helped EOU close the door on the Mounties as they accounted for 24 of EOU's 32 third quarter points. Eastern kept Evergreen in check in the fourth to take the 74-58 win.
Eastern will wrap up regular season play tomorrow afternoon taking on Northwest University. The Mounties will take on the 8-18 Eagles at 3 p.m.
