KIRKLAND, Wash. – The No. 14 ranked Mounties clinched a share of the CCC Regular Season Title and moments later were deemed the number one seed in the CCC Tournament decided by a coin toss this evening. Eastern took care of business on the road handling the Eagles of Northwest University 81-65. With the win EOU wraps up the regular season going 26-2 overall and 21-1 in CCC play.
Tonight's game as determined in the final three quarters. Northwest came out on the attack stunning EOU in the first quarter taking a 10-point lead. Northwest's Kylie Lunday and Maya DuChesne accounted for 16 of NU's 22 points. The roles reversed in the second as the Mounties took the lead at the half outscoring Northwest 22-9 in the second quarter to lead 34-31 at the half. Eastern took control down the stretch and
Sailor Liefke put the Eagles away with 12 fourth quarter points to take the 81-65 win.
Following Eastern's win over Northwest and Lewis-Clark State's win over Warner Pacific the Cascade Collegiate Conference and commissioner, Robert Cashell, did a coin flip to determine seeding for the CCC Tournament and who the conference's automatic bid to the national tournament would go to. LC State won the coin toss earning the conference's automatic bid to the national tournament and a second-place seed in the upcoming CCC tournament, while the Mounties received the first-overall seed for the conference tournament.
Eastern, as the No. 1 seed in the CCC Tournament, will take on No. 8-seeded Evergreen State on Wednesday, Feb. 22 to kick off the tournament. The quarterfinal matchup is scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m. in Quinn Coliseum.
