OREGON CITY, Ore. - Eastern Oregon returned to the mat on Sunday as they competed in the Clackamas Open hosted by Clackamas Community College. The Mountaineers had a solid showing, earning two tournament champions and placing five total in the top six of their respective weight class.
Braden Carson of the 133-pound weight division was the first tournament champion for the Mountaineers. Carson had a stellar day going 3-0 on the mat. He started his day with a majority victory, 9-0 over Oregon State University's Richard Bell. He followed with a pin victory over Hayden Narruhn who wrestled unattached earning him a spot in the championship match. In the final match, Carson continued his great day, winning by 4-1 decision over Clackamas Community College's Tim Lopez.
The other tournament champion for the Mountaineers was Kyle Knudtson of the 184-pound division. Knudtson went 4-0 on the day which started off with a 15-0 tech fall victory over Ethan Miller who wrestled unattached. Then it was back to back pins that tabbed Knudtson to the championship match, the first over Clackamas Community College's Bradon Pease then Corban's Tyson Stover. In the championship match, he cruised to an 11-4 decision victory over Southern Oregon's John White to take first place in the 184-pound division.Â

Eastern Oregon will be back in action Thursday, Dec. 7 as they will travel to Great Falls, Mont. to take on the Argos of the University of Providence.Â
