ASHLAND, Ore. - The Eastern Oregon women's basketball team faced another formidable CCC opponent in Southern Oregon on Saturday, resulting in a 68-42 loss. The Mountaineers struggled to maintain offensive momentum throughout the game, particularly evident in the second quarter, where they were outscored 12-2. Southern Oregon capitalized on their offensive efficiency, boasting a 53.4% field goal percentage.
The Mountaineers struggled to connect offensively throughout the game, posting a 24.1% field goal percentage and a 22.2% success rate from beyond the arc. Southern Oregon's control of the boards played a pivotal role in the contest, securing 44 rebounds compared to Eastern Oregon's 30.
Macie Elliott, Bayley Brennan, and Brie Holecek led the Mountaineers with 10 points each, with Holecek pulling down 9 rebounds as well, showcasing her versatility on both ends of the court.
Southern Oregon displayed a well-rounded team effort, with Emma Schmerbach leading all scorers with 16 points. Meghan McIntyre contributed 13 points along with 4 rebounds and 5 assists, displaying her impact on both ends of the court. Clara Robbins also added 14 points for the Raiders' balanced attack.
Now standing with an overall record of 4-2, the Mountaineers will look to rebound next weekend when they face the College of Idaho on Saturday.
