PORTLAND, Ore. - Eastern Oregon men's basketball secured a hard-fought victory against Warner Pacific, finishing the game with a 77-75 advantage in a closely contested CCC matchup in Portland.
The Mountaineers showcased their offensive explosiveness with a 42-point first half, shooting at an impressive 51.6% from the field. Despite a slight dip in shooting percentage in the second half, Eastern Oregon maintained their lead and held off a surging Knights team that fought back from an eight-point halftime deficit. The Mountaineers would win the game on the offensive glass, scoring 18 second-chance points on the night.
Key performers for Eastern Oregon included Jonny Hillman, who led the team with 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Aj Huddleston contributed 11 points, including two three-pointers. The Mountaineers shared the ball, combining for 19 assists.
Caleb Tyree-Morgan had an impressive performance for the Warner Pacific Knights, leading the team with 21 points off of five successful threes. Matt Solomon contributed 14 points and connected on two from beyond the arc.
The Mountaineers will continue their road trip in Portland with another matchup tomorrow against the Multnomah Lions, scheduled to tip-off at 5:00 p.m.
