PORTLAND, Ore. - Eastern Oregon women's basketball clinched their first conference victory against Warner Pacific on Friday evening, ending the contest with a 50-46 advantage in Portland.
Eastern Oregon took an early lead of 12-10 in the first quarter. Despite a competitive second quarter where both teams battled fiercely, Warner Pacific narrowed the gap, trailing 27-25 at halftime. The Mounties extended their lead to 45-37 in the third quarter, and despite a fierce comeback effort from the Knights in the final quarter, Eastern Oregon held on to the four-point victory.
In an impressive performance, Haley Robinett controlled the glass and recorded a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 1 assist during the game. Brie Holecek also filled the stat sheet, contributing 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists.
For the Knights of Warner Pacific, Haley Harris displayed excellent playmaking skills with 4 assists and contributed defensively with 5 rebounds, while Emily Brown secured 5 rebounds and also contributed significantly to the team's ball movement with 4 assists. Hannah Harris led the Knights in scoring with 8 points, including two successful three-pointers.
The Mounties will stay in Portland for tomorrow's matchup with the Multnomah Lions, set to tip-off at 3:00 p.m.
