LA GRANDE, Ore. - Eastern Oregon Men's Wrestling was back in action Sunday as they hosted the Mountaineer Open. Ultimately, Eastern had a solid performance, finishing the day with 11 top six placers.
The Mountaineers had two second place finishers as their top performers of the day. The first was Kaden Haugen of the 133-pound division. Haugen went 2-1 on the day with victories over Kadin Messmer, who wrestled unattached, by pin 6 minutes and 27 seconds into the match. He secured his spot in the championship match after a 13-5 major decision victory over Grays College's Fabian Flores. Haugen ultimately lost his final match of the day to Evergreen State College's Jose Toscano.
The next top finisher of the day for Eastern was Jason Crisostomo who finished second in the 174-pound division after going 2-1 on mat. Crisostomo took his first match of the day by 12-8 decision over Logan Massie, who wrestled unattached. Then, he secured his spot in the championship match after pinning Evergreen State College's Justin Pritchard four minutes and six seconds into the match. Crisostomo ultimately lost his final match of the day to Corban University's Matthew Bartlett.
