Eastern Places Two at Spokane Open

SPOKANE, Wash. - Eastern Oregon Men's Wrestling returned to action Sunday as they traveled to Spokane, Wash. to compete in the Spokane Open. Eastern ultimately placed two wrestlers in the top six of their respective weight divisions. 

The first placer for the Mountaineers was Hunter Kemper of the 157-pound division. Kemper secured a victory in his first match of the day with a pin 3 minutes and 47 seconds into the match over Seth Dawkins of The Evergreen State College. He followed with another pin this time just 34 seconds into the match over Austin Nine, who wrestled unattached. However, in the Semifinal, Justin Windauer of Montana State-Northern won by major decision over Kemper. In the Cons. Semi, Kemper dropped the match to Ryan Graves of Montana State-Northern by tech fall. In the 5th place match, Kemper fell to Dougie Swanson of Providence, tabbing him to sixth place. 

Darrian Hoobery also finished sixth for the Mountaineers in the heavyweight division. Hoobery secured a victory in his first match of the day by pin with J`Bari Michaels of The Evergreen State College. He would go on to take his next match as well, this time by 6-2 decision over Jakob Conners. Hoobery dropped his final two matches of the day resulting in a sixth-place finish. 

Eastern Oregon will be back in action Saturday, Dec. 2 as they will take on the Geoducks of The Evergreen State College.
