KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – No. 16 Eastern picked up their second win of the week and seventh straight Saturday afternoon thanks to a couple of strong performances from
Beverly Slater and
Shaelie Burgess. The pair each picked up a double double propelling the Mounties to a 79-58 victory over Oregon Tech. With the win the Mounties advance to 17-2 on the year and 12-1 in the CCC.
The first quarter was a tight one as Oregon Tech edged out the Mounties 16-14 thanks to a buzzer beater jumper from OIT's Kaitlyn Wright. Down by two, Eastern went on a massive 28-12 run on the backs of Slater and Burgess in the second quarter. Slater went off scoring all 15 of her points in the second quarter while knocking down a season high four threes. Burgess tacked on nine more for the Mounties as they jumped out to a 42-28 lead at the half.
With the momentum in their favor Eastern kept their foot on the gas in the third quarter.
Sailor Liefke took the lead on offense early with seven points in the first five minutes of the third quarter. From there the Mounties spread it around to go up 66-39 after three quarters of play. With a comfortable lead Eastern cruised through the fourth quarter on their way to a 79-58 victory.
With tonight's win EOU ends a two-week road trip going undefeated in four games. The Mounties return home this upcoming weekend taking on Walla Walla University in Quinn Coliseum on Friday, Jan. 27. Tipoff is set for 12 p.m.

- Slater picked up her second double double in as many nights partially thanks to some confidence from range. The junior knocked down four threes, twice the amount of her previous game high for attempts in a game (two).
- The Mounties held a big advantage on the glass (44-31) thanks to Burgess and Slater who accounted for half of those rebounds (22)
- Strong perimeter defense paid off for EOU who held the Hustlin' Owls under 10% from three while picking up seven steals
