Mounties Start 2-0 In CCC Play

LA GRANDE, Ore. - The Mounties were back in action Saturday afternoon as they took on the Knights of Warner Pacific University to finish out the first weekend of Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Eastern Oregon would ultimately win the match 1-0 improving to 5-1-1 overall and 2-0 in CCC play. With the loss, the Knights of Warner Pacific dropped to 3-4-1 on the season and 0-2 in CCC play.

The Mounties started off the game on the attack. After a Knights foul in the box, Erika Skindlov was able to find the back of the net on a penalty kick in the seventh minute. This early goal would ultimately be the game winning goal for the match. The Mountaineers had another great team defensive match as they were able to post their fifth scoreless game of the young 2022 season.

For the Knights, after the first goal, they were able to find a groove defensively, not allowing EOU to find the back of the net for the remainder of the match. WPU goalkeeper, Kate Pomerinke, posted a strong performance, totaling 5 saves while playing the full 90 minutes.

The Mounties will look to continue their winning ways as they take on Corban University in Salam, Ore. Kick off is set at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23.
