LA GRANDE, Ore.- The Mounties were back in action Saturday night as they continued Cascade Collegiate Conference play against the Knights of Warner Pacific. EOU would ultimately fall to the Knights, 2-1 in a physical matchup. With the loss, the Mountaineers drop to 4-2-1 on the season and 1-1 in CCC play. WPU added to its undefeated record with the win, taking them to 7-0 on the season and 2-0 in CCC play. 

The first half of the match was back and forth with the Knights striking first in the third minute when Andrew Martinez was able to sneak a goal past the Mounties giving WPU a 1-0 lead. This would be the only goal of the first half as the Knights were able to maintain the lead through 45 minutes of play.

After a hour delay due to lighting, the second half kicked off. The second half was a physical match as a total of four yellow cards were given out. A WPU goal in the 60th minute by Andrew Martinez put the Knights up 2-0. The Mounties did not go away; a late run sparked by a Marcos Bravo goal in the 85th minute cut the WPU lead down to one. EOU would stay on the attack for the remainder of the match but were not able to find the back of the net.

The Mountaineers will be back in action as they continue CCC play as they take on Corban University in Salem, Ore. Kick off is set for 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23.
