KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The NAIA announced late Tuesday afternoon the 2022 qualifiers for the Men's Wrestling National Championships. Cascade Collegiate Conference Champion Eastern Oregon University had six grapplers make the final cut.
Earning a bid to the Nationals is as follows:
Zach Mauras (133 lbs.),
Jaxon Morlan (141 lbs.),
Keegan Mulhill (174 lbs.),
Kyle Knudtson (184 lbs.),
Jay Smith (197 lbs.), and
Noel Orozco (285 lbs.). The six qualifications ties for the most in the program's history since reinstatement.
The Mountaineers enter the 2022 National Championships ranked No. 16 in the NAIA and are coming off winning their first ever CCC Title in program history. For reigning CCC Coach of the Year Dystyn Azure, he has now qualified at least one wrestler for Nationals each year since the program's reinstatement ahead of the 2016-17 season.
In all, the CCC had the second most individual qualifiers with 43 total. This year's NAIA National Championships will be held March 4-5 in Wichita, Kansas at Hartman Arena. Seeding and preliminary brackets will be announced by 3 p.m. PT/5 p.m. CT this Friday, Feb. 25.
