Mountaineers Set to Wrap Up Regular Season in Portland

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The 2021-22 regular season wraps up this weekend for Eastern Oregon Women's Basketball as the team heads to Portland for two games. The Mountaineers are locked into the top-four of the conference and will look to win a pair this weekend in the hopes of solidifying their final placing.

Tip-Off
• The Mountaineers head into the final weekend of regular season play with a 19-9 overall record and are 16-4 in CCC action.
• Eastern has already solidified its place in the top-four of the league standings and will know where the team ranks after this weekend.
• Currently, EOU is third in the CCC standings. The team is one game back of potentially winning the regular season crown.
• Following the regular season wrap-up, the Mounties will have a quick turnaround hosting a first round game in the CCC Championships, presented by U.S. Bank. 
• The Mounties first round game of the CCC Tournament will be Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. The opponent is still to be determined.

Last Time Out

• Eastern went 2-0 last weekend at home in what was Senior Weekend for the Mounties.
• EOU picked up wins over Evergreen State, 73-67, and Northwest, 72-62 to finish 10-1 at home in regular season play.
• Against the Geoducks, EOU was paced by Sailor Liefke who scored 21 points in the win.
• Against the Eagles, seniors Taylor Stricklin and Brandy Smith went out on a high note in the team's 10-point. Adyson Harris paced the offense with 24 points.

• The Mountaineers did not play either team earlier this season as both MU and WPU forfeited the games due to COVID-19 protocols.
• Since the 2015-16 season, EOU is a staggering 16-0 against Multnomah and is 7-0 in true road games.
• Since the 2008-09 season, Eastern owns a 23-5 record against the Knights. The Mounties have won the last 21 match-ups and are 12-2 in true road games.

Sailor Liefke is second in the league in scoring at 16.0 points per game. She is fourth in free throw percentage (83.5%) and sixth in assists (3.5 per game).
Taylor Stricklin is eighth in rebounding at 8.4 per game. She ranks 14th in scoring at 13.2 points per game.

Scouting the Competition
Multnomah Lions

• The Lions enter the weekend with a 5-22 overall record and are 5-15 in conference play. They are just 3-7 at home this year.
• MU averages just 61.0 points per game and shoots 35.4% from the floor. They shoot just 25.8% from beyond the arc and give up 16.0 turnovers per game. They average just 11.6 assists per game.
• Defensively, the Lions are giving up 70.9 points per game on 39.2% shooting overall. They average just 37.8 rebounds per game to go along with 8.9 steals and 3.4 blocks per game.
• Alaygza Portis leads the way in scoring at 12.7 points per game. She is also the top rebounder at 7.7 per game and has a team-high 29 blocks on the year.
• Dalila Rincan is second in scoring at 11.4 points per game. She is second in assists with 45 and averages 1.8 per game. She also has a team best 35 steals.
• Clare Faber is the second leading rebounder at 5.6 per game and has 12 steals on the year.
• Elise Graham is the leader in assists with 48 and has a team-high 35 steals.
• Shaila Mays is third in scoring at 9.9 points per game and is third in blocks with 14. 

Warner Pacific Knights
• The Knights are 13-12 overall and 11-9 entering the weekend. They boast a 7-4 record at home. They have earned a berth to the CCC Tournament and currently rank fifth in the league standings.
• WPU is averaging 68.9points per game and shoots 40.5% from the floor. They are just a 28.6% team from deep and give up 15.0 turnovers per game. They average 15.9 assists per game.
• The Knights do hold opponents to 66.4 points per game but allow opponents to shoot 40.6% from the field. They give up 31.7% from deep and average just 36.6 rebounds per game.
• The knights do tally 11.0 steals per game but are mustering just 1.4 blocks per game.
• Courtney Jackson is the leader in scoring at 15.8 points per game. She shoots 43.4% overall and 33.3% from deep.
• Hannah Myers is second in scoring and rebounding. She averages 14.6 points per game and 5.6 boards per game.
• Lynden Harry is second in assists with 63, averaging 3.2 per game, and is third on the team in scoring at 12.6 points per game.
• Kylie Guelsdorf is the team leader in rebounding with an average of 6.5 per game. She chips in 5.2 points per game. 
• Anna Farner is the leader in assists with 70 and averages 3.9 per game. She also has 30 steals and averages 5.9 points per game.
