LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Mountaineers handled the Multnomah University Lions with ease Saturday evening shutting down the CCC's leading scorer, Zach Richardson, holding the guard to 12 points on 4-13 shooting. Eastern built on their lead throughout the game working their way to a 101-78 victory cracking triple digits scoring on back-to-back nights. With the win the Mountaineers move to 7-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play. Multnomah falls to 6-5 overall and 1-4 in conference play.
The game started out with both teams exchanging shots and matching each other through the first ten minutes. Eastern outscored the Lions 29-18 in the last 10 minutes of the half to start pulling away. With a half to go the Mountaineers kept their foot on the gas gathering a lead as large as 36 with just over three minutes to go. Eastern outscored Multnomah 53-43 in the second half to pick up their second win in as many nights.
EOU will enjoy a quick break and return to action up in Spokane when they take on the Gonzaga Bulldogs for an exhibition on Wednesday, Dec. 28. This will be the second matchup with Gonzaga as Eastern took on the Bulldogs last year as well falling 62-115.
