SPRINGFIELD, Ore.- The Mountaineers were back in action Tuesday afternoon as they kicked off the first round of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament. No. 4 seeded Eastern took on No. 5 seeded Corban University. The Mounties proved to be too much for the Warriors as they cruised to a 3-0 victory.
It truly was a post season match as both teams came out with a sense of urgency. Both defenses looked sharp through the majority of the first half, until Mountaineer midfielder Brooke Ford was able to find the back of the Warrior net giving the Mounties a 1-0 lead. After 45 minutes of play EOU held a 1-0 lead over Corban. This 41st minute goal by Brooke Ford ultimately was the game winning goal as the Mounties were able to post their 14th scoreless match in the 2022 season.
As the second half proceeded the Mountaineers took control tacking on two more goals. The first came in the 54th minute by All-CCC First Team selectee, Erika Skindlov, extending the Mounties lead to 2-0. The final scoring play of the match came in the 78th minute when Chloe Narolski found the back of the net, capping the Mountaineer victory 3-0.
Eastern Oregon will be back in action tomorrow Wednesday, Nov. 9 as they advance to the second round of the CCC Tournament. EOU will take on Northwest University at 4:00 p.m.
