LA GRANDE, Ore. — No. 24 Eastern Oregon Women's Soccer capped a perfect weekend at home Saturday night with their second shutout win in as many days. The Mountaineers turned backed Rocky Mountain College 2-0 to improve to 8-2-2 overall and 5-1-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.
Both goals for Eastern came in the second frame of play and were within five minutes of each other. Netting the gamewinner was Baylee Shewchuk in the 52nd minute, which was also her first career gamewinning goal at EOU.
Tallying the second goal of the day was Brooke Snyder in 57th minute to bring the score to its final of 2-0. For the Mounties they tallied 14 shots in the win and had five shots on goal, which all came in the second period.
EOU outshot Rocky, 14-8, and allowed just two shots on goal. For the Battlin' Bears, their two shots on goal both came in the first 45 minutes.
Shewchuk guided the offense with three shots and had two come on net to go along with her goal. Snyder had two shots, both on goal, with one goal. Goalkeeper Kennady Flint had the shutout win once again and tallied two saves.
Halle Labert paced the Rocky offense with two shots and had one come on goal. In net, Mila Allison surrendered two goals and had a trio of saves.
EOU will hit the road for its next three games, starting next weekend. The Mounties get the road swing started Friday, Oct. 14 at Southern Oregon. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. in Ashland.
