HELENA, Mont.- The Mountaineers were back in action as they traveled to snowy Montana to take on Carroll College. The Mounties would ultimately take the match 3-0, marking a career milestone for head coach Jacob Plocher as he earned his 100th career win as head coach.
It was a huge day for the Mounties as they were able to control the pace of the game from kick off. The Mounties were able to total 24 shots in the match with 8 of those shots being shots on goal. The Mountaineers were able to find the back of the net for the first time in the match in the 33rd minute when Kana Mateaki snuck one past the Carroll defense on an assist from Darby McDevitt. This goal was ultimately the game winning goal of the match as the Eastern defense posted its 11th scoreless contest of the 2022 season. EOU would tack on two more goals to reach the 3-0 final mark. One came in the 41st minute when Sydney Peck was able to find the back of the net and the final score of the day came in the 82nd minute when Brooke Ford scored on an assist from Erika Skindlov.
This career milestone for Coach Jacob Plocher is one of many career marks to come for the young head coach. In just his sixth season at the helm for Eastern Oregon Women's soccer, Coach Plocher is the winningest head coach in program history. His path to 100 wins started back in 2013 when Plocher took over as head coach for the Presentation College Saints. In four years with the Saints Plocher picked up 27 wins. The William Penn graduate took over as the head of the EOU women's soccer program in 2017 and won his 73rd match as a Mountie Sunday at Carroll College.
"I want to congratulate Jacob on his milestone win," Athletic Director Anji Weissenfluh said. "Jacob has built a tradition of success for our women's soccer program and I am excited for him and his program."
Eastern Oregon will be back in action Friday, Oct. 28th at 4:00 p.m. as they kick off the front half of senior weekend against Evergreen State at Community Stadium in La Grande, Ore.
