LA GRANDE, Ore. - The Mounties were back in action at home Friday night as they took on the Geoducks of The Evergreen State College. Eastern had a huge offensive showing leading to a 4-0 route of the Geoducks. With this win the Mountaineers improve to 10-3-3 on the season and 7-2-2 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. With the loss, the Geoducks drop to 1-9-4 and 1-7-3 in CCC play.
In the first half of the match the Mounties were on the attack. Tallying 15 shots in the half, the Mounties were able to find the back of the Geoduck net twice. The first being by Megan Gustafson in the 38th minute then just two short minutes later, in the 40th minute Carly Imes scored following a great pass from Alexandria Segeberg. Geoduck goalkeeper, Amity Brookshire in just 45 minutes of play was able to account for 13 saves. Evergreen struggled to find a groove offensively, tallying just one shot in the first half.
As the second half proceeded, it was a similar story for the Mounties. Controlling the pace of play and time of possession, the Mountaineers would tack on two more goals in the half. The first being by Brooke Snyder which was assisted by Emmy Williams. The final goal of the night came in the 63rd minute when Brooke Snyder sent a cross into the box leading to a header goal by Baylee Shewchuk. The Geoducks were able to tally one more shot in the half taking their total to two for the match.
Prior to the match the Mountaineers celebrated their 6 seniors, Alexandria Sageberg, Corynn Vigil, Yaya Chavarria-Mondragon, Kara Gooderham, Cassidy Quick, and Brooke Ford for all of their hard work and dedication to the EOU soccer program. The Mounties will be back in action Saturday Oct. 29 at 4:00 p.m. as they take on Northwest University at Community Stadium in La Grande, Ore.
