PORTLAND, Ore. – The Mounties made quick work of the Multnomah Lions on Friday night. Three straight set victories marked the Mounties third sweep in a row as EOU won 25-21, 25-9, 25-18. With the win the No. 1 ranked Mountaineers move to 23-2 on the year.
The first set of the match was a defensive battle as neither team hit over .050. Even with some offensive struggles the Mounties still took the win 25-21. Eastern found its stride in the second set as the Mounties utilized the service line tallying four aces, all coming from
Alexis McMurtrey. The offensive attack was extremely clean in the second set as the Mounties made no errors while racking up 10 kills hitting .323. In the third and final set EOU took advantage of Lion errors and out hit Multnomah again to take the set and match win, 25-18.
Eastern Oregon continues their weekend road trip tomorrow night when the Mounties take on Warner Pacific University at 5 p.m.
