Mountaineers Take Road Win Over Wolves

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash.- The Mountaineers were back in action Friday afternoon as they took on the Wolves of Walla Walla University. It was a physical match as both teams fought to the end. The Mounties would ultimately take the game 1-0, improving to 7-7-1 on the season and 4-6 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

The first half of tonight's game was a back and forth match that saw the Wolves of Walla Walla play some stellar defense to counter the Mounties attack. The Mounties struggled to find a groove on the offensive side but it was their defense that carried them through the first 45 minutes of play.

The match was highly physical as a total of 36 fouls were called in the contest along with five yellow cards. In the second half the Mounties were able to make a run past the Wolves defense and Senior Max Rose was able to break the 0-0 tie after finding the back of the net in the 55th minute on a nice assist from Daniel Kropf. This would ultimately be the game winning goal as the Mounties were able to keep Walla Walla scoreless after 90 minutes of play.

The Mounties will get a quick one day rest then they will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 23  as they travel to Helena, Mont. to take on Carroll College. Kick off is set for 3:00 p.m MT.
