Balanced Attack Leads No. 1 Mounties to Sweep Over Warriors

LA GRANDE, Ore.- Eastern Oregon completed its second sweep of the weekend on Saturday night over the Lewis-Clark State College Warriors. EOU got stronger as the match progressed and took the 3-0 win, 25-23, 25-17, 25-16. The win moves the Mounties to 22-2 on the year and 15-1 in conference play. The loss drops Lewis-Clark State to 13-8 overall and 9-7 in conference play.
 
In the closest set of the evening the Mounties actually never trailed as the Warriors followed close behind all the way. EOU took the set win, 25-23. Lewis-Clark State jumped out to a early 3-0 lead in the second set, but the Mounties responded with a 12-2 run to go up big as they coasted to a 25-17 set victory in the second. To finish off the Warriors, Eastern once again grabbed the lead from the start and held it all the way through. Seven Mounties recorded a kill in the match clinching third set victory that resulted in EOU's largest margin of victory on the evening, 25-16.
 
The No. 1 Mountaineers hit the road for the next two weeks starting with a 7 p.m. match against Multnomah on Friday, Oct. 21. EOU will take on the Lions in Portland.
