ASHLAND, Ore.- The Mountaineers were back in action Friday afternoon as they took on the Raiders of Southern Oregon University. It was a tough day for the Mounties as the Raiders controlled most of the match, eventually winning 4-0.
The match was a physical one as a total of three yellow cards were distributed throughout, two to Eastern and one to Southern. The Raiders were able to jump out to an early first half lead as they found the back of the net in the 26th minute. Southern would be able to sneak past the Mountie defense again in the 42nd minute, taking a 2-0 lead into halftime.Â
It was much of the same as the second half proceeded, the Mounties struggled to get their offense going which was mainly due to some outstanding play on the defensive side of the ball by the Raiders. Southern would tack on two more second half goals, eventually taking the game 4-0 over the Mountaineers.
The Mounties will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 15 as they travel to Klamath Falls, Ore. to take on The Owls of Oregon Tech University. Kick off is set for 2:30 p.m.
