LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University Women's Lacrosse wrapped up its inaugural 2021 season Sunday afternoon as the Mountaineers played host to the Corban University Warriors in a 7v7 exhibition contest. The Mountaineers fell 17-5 to conclude the season and before the contest, they honored their first ever senior in
Hailey Crudo.
How it Happened
• The Mountaineers battled all 60 minutes against the Warriors and finished the day causing 11 turnovers against the Warriors and posted 17 shots total. Of the 17 shots, 12 came on goal for EOU.
• The Warriors got off to a quick start in the match and managed to grab a 7-1 lead after the first period. The Mountaineers lone goal in the opening frame came on the shot of
Samantha Buckley. It was her first of four goals for the contest.
• The Mountaineers managed to get within five early on in the second period when goals by Buckley and
Saydee Hetrick brought the score to 8-3. The Warriors were able to respond though scoring four more times to take a 12-3 lead at halftime.
• Defense was the theme in the third period for both squads as just two goals were netted in the frame. Both goals came by Corban to push the lead for the Warriors to 14-3 entering the fourth. In net
Giselle Amezcua made multiple saves in the third.
• In the final 15 minutes of action, the Warriors managed to score three more goals while Eastern tacked on two to bring the score to its final of 17-5. Buckley led the way for the Mountaineers scoring both goals.
• The Mountaineers had shot opportunities late as Crudo,
Lauren Kombol, and
Regann Donahue all pushed the tempo in the final minutes. Buckley and Hetrick also pushed the tempo on offense late before the contest came to a close.
