Mounties and Yotes Draw in Double Overtime

CALDWELL, Idaho - Ninth-ranked Eastern Oregon University Women's Soccer tied 1-1 on the road against the College of Idaho on Sunday in game one of the two-game series. With the tie, EOU moves to 7-0-2 overall and 5-0-2 in Cascade Collegiate Conference East Divisional play.
 
How it Happened
• For the contest, the Mountaineers and the Yotes (5-3-2, 3-1-1 CCC East) combined for 24 total shots in the double overtime battle on Sunday afternoon. C of I had the 16-8 advantage, while EOU had the 5-4 edge with shots on goal.
• Senior Sarah Mitchell scored the first goal of the contest when she connected on a penalty kick in the 26th minute for the Mountaineers. The Yotes were quick to respond as Sydney Clements found the back of the net in the 33rd minute to tie the score at 1-1.
• The Yotes had a 10-3 shot advantage in the first period but missed opportunities kept the score locked at one a piece heading into halftime.
• EOU picked up its defensive play in the second period allowing only four Yotes' shots and zero goals. The Yotes, however, were able to continue where they left off in the first half, allowing EOU only four shots of their own and zero goals to keep the score tied at 1-1 to end regulation.
• In the first overtime period, EOU was unable to get a shot off, while CI posted one shot that just missed high which sent the contest to its second OT period.
• In the second overtime period, the Yotes had an opportunity to break the tie on a header in the 108th minute, but the Mounties picked up a team save on the play. Senior Cailin Koupal had a chance to walk it off in the final minute of play but was unable to convert to end the contest in a draw.

• Sarah Mitchell had one goal on two shots for the Mountaineers.
• Morgan Farrington led the Mountaineers with four shots and three shots on goal.
• Cailin Koupal had 2 shots and one shot on goal.
• In net, Savannah Hutchinson tallied two saves in 110 minutes of action.
 
For the Yotes
• Sydney Clements had one goal for the Yotes on her only shot attempt.
• Madison Glascock had three shots, one shot on goal, and an assist in the contest.
• Lily Schlake also had three shots with one coming on goal.
• Goalkeeper Kylee Atkins totaled fours saves in 110 minutes of action.
