CALDWELL, Idaho - College of Idaho handed ninth-ranked Eastern Oregon University Women's Soccer its first and only loss of the regular season in a 1-0 battle on Monday afternoon in Caldwell. With the loss, EOU ends the regular season 7-1-2 overall and finishes Cascade Collegiate Conference East Divisional play at 5-1-2.
How it Happened
• For the contest, the Mountaineers and the Yotes (6-3-2, 4-1-1 CCC East) combined for 23 shots in Monday' battle. CI had a slight 13-10 advantage, while also having a 8-5 edge with shots on goal.
• EOU had a flurry of opportunities in the 19th minute to take an early lead, but Yotes' goalkeeper Kylee Atkins picked up three saves in a 20 second span to keep the score locked at 0-0.
• It took over 50 minutes of action before either team was on the board, until the Yotes' Alexa Rierson was able to find the back of the net off a corner kick in the 51st minute to give her team a 1-0 lead.
• The Mountaineers had limited offensive opportunities the rest of the contest, as the Yotes only allowed them four shot attempts in the final period, resulting in a 1-0 victory for College of Idaho.
• For the game, the Mountaineers had 11 fouls, while College of Idaho finished with six. The Yotes had the 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.
