FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University Women's Lacrosse played an exhibition match on Sunday afternoon against Pacific University. The Mountaineers played well in the 7v7 match and totaled 11 goals for the game.
How it Happened
• The Mountaineers 11 goals came on the merit of five different players. Two players record hat tricks, while five of the goals were assisted. Helping Pacific secure the 21-11 exhibition win was six goals scored by three players.

Lauren Kombol had the first score of the day off the quick pass from
Samantha Buckley at the 29:02 mark of the first period to give EOU a 1-0 lead. The Boxers responded at the 25:02 mark to tie the contest at 1-1. Pacific grabbed its first lead of the game with 21:08 left to play with a goal to make it 2-1.
• Kombol tied the contest back up at 2-2 as she and Buckley connected again for the score. Following a foul by the Boxers, Buckley went down the right sideline and found Kombol in stride for a goal up the middle that tied the game with 20:10 left to play in the half.
• The boxers responded quickly scoring with 19:24 on the clock to go back up by one, 3-2. The goal was the first of four-straight by Pacific that gave them a 6-2 edge with 14:23 to play in the half. The 3-0 run forced an EOU timeout.
• Out of the quick break, Pacific still managed to score two more goals before EOU ended the 6-0 run. Buckley scored the goal this time around for the Mountaineers.
Saydee Hetrick grabbed a groundball pickup and made a short dump pass to Buckley for the goal.
• EOU cut its deficit to four with under 10 minutes to play on a goal from
Kennedi Tuliau. She got down the right sideline and cut back into the middle of the field and nailed a left-handed goal on the run to make it an 8-4 contest.
• The Boxers tacked on three more goals before the end of the first frame to take a 11-4 lead into halftime. Coming out of the break, the Boxers scored goal No. 12 early in the second period to cap a 4-0 run and gave them a 12-4 edge.
• Kombol ended the Boxers' run with 25:13 to play in the second on her third goal of the game. She got down the left side near the net and hit a shot to the upper right corner to complete a hat trick. With the goal, EOU trailed 12-5.
• Pacific got the goal back two possessions later to go up 13-5, before Hetrick answered again for the Mountaineers. A loose ball on the left side of the goal area fell toward Hetrick who scooped it up and cut back to the middle to hit an open net for her first goal of the contest.
• EOU made it a 13-7 game with 23:14 to play in regulation when
Kiana Watchman caused a turnover that allowed Buckley to pick up the groundball and go down the field for the score. Buckley got down the right side and nailed a shot from 10 yards out between a pair of defenders for her second goal of the day.
• Pacific pushed the lead back to seven at 14-7, but it was the effort of Buckley once again that kept EOU within striking distance. Following a save by
Jaiden Mitchell she made a clear down the left side to Buckley who had just one defender to beat. She worked her way back to the middle of the field and nailed a shot dead center of the net. Her goal was her third to complete a hat trick and brought the score to 14-8.
• The next goal from Eastern came with 18:54 to play in regulation. Buckley caused a turnover and found an open.
Regann Donahue down field. Donahue used a bouncing shot off the ground to get the ball past the goalie and score her first goal of the game.
• Following a pair of Boxer goals, EOU trailed 16-9 before a Hetrick goal got the Mounties back within six. Hetrick got inside the middle area near the goal and grabbed a quick pass from Buckley to score the goal. She hit the upper left corner of the net to beat the goalie and make it a 16-10 game. For Hetrick it was her second goal of the game, while Buckley was credited the assist.
• The final goal for the Mountaineers came from the stick of Donahue at the 5:14 mark of the second period. She got down the field and worked back toward the middle before spinning back out to the right for another bounce goal off the ground. It was her second goal of the game and made it an 18-11 game.
• The Boxers tacked on three more goals and held EOU to without a goal in the final five minutes of play to secure the 21-11 exhibition win.
