CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference has announced the 32 individuals that will represent the CCC and their respective institutions at the NAIA Men's Wrestling National Championships, scheduled for March 5-6 in Park City, Kan.
Eastern Oregon tied for the second most selections with five student-athletes being picked. Representing the Mountaineers at the national stage will be
Luciano Fasulo at 125 pounds,
Keegan Mulhill at 174 pounds,
Kyle Knudtson at 184 pounds,
Marco Retano at 197 pounds, and
Noel Orozco at 285 pounds.
John Bittinger (165 pounds) has also been tabbed as an alternate and will compete if one of the 32 overall individuals cannot attend the national tournament die to illness or injury.
The Mountaineers will head to the Midwest in just over two weeks after having competed in just one event during the 2020-21 regular season. EOU competed at the Nampa Collegiate Invite in Idaho back on Feb. 6 and each of the athletes above posted solid results.
Fasulo was the overall winner at 125 with perfect 4-0 record, which included two wins by pin. Mullhill was 4-0 as well at 174 pounds and had two victories come by way of major decision and tech fall, respectively.
Knudtson went 2-0 at 184 pounds at Nampa with his two victories coming via fall. Retano was 4-0 in his season debut and had three decision wins. Orozco, like Knudtson, only wrestled two opponents and was also undefeated. He picked up wins by way of fall and sudden victory.
