EOU Set to Battle LC State and Walla Walla in Final Home Games of 2021

LA GRANDE, Ore. - Mountaineer Women's Basketball returns home this weekend for the first time since Nov. 5 as the team will host a pair of conference opponents in what will be the team's official home opening weekend. The two games this weekend will also be the final home games of the 2021 calendar year for EOU.

Walla Walla Wolves (1-9, 0-3 CCC)

Friday, Dec. 17, 5:30 p.m. - vs. LC State
Saturday, Dec. 18, 6:30 p.m. - vs. WWU

Tip-Off
• Eastern Oregon (5-6, 2-1 CCC) will play its first countable games at home this weekend when the team hosts LC State and Walla Walla.
• The Mountaineers played at home back on Nov. 5 against Whitman College but the game was denoted as an exhibition for EOU.
• Eastern is just one game under .500 overall but is off to a 2-1 start in CCC play. 
• Following the quick two-game homestand, EOU will play a pair of road games that will take place on New Years Eve and New Years Day, respectively.

EOU Athletics Spectator Policy
• Spectators will be allowed at EOU sporting events, but masks will be required to be worn correctly (over mouth AND nose) at ALL indoor and outdoor events per state and local policy. This is subject to change at any time.
• Failure to comply with conference or institutional attendance policies will result in removal from venue and any further EOU contests.
• General Admission is allowed for both indoor and outdoor events and is on a first come, first serve basis. To see ticket prices for individual EOU sporting events and to purchase tickets, click here.
• Concessions will now be available for both indoor and outdoor EOU athletic events. Food and drinks will not be allowed inside Quinn Coliseum gym and must be consumed in the lobby area only.
• Students, faculty, and staff wishing to attend indoor EOU Athletic Events can do so for FREE by showcasing their EOU ID card.

Quick Hits
Last Time Out

• The Mountaineers closed out an eight-game road trip with a pair of conference match-ups and went 1-1. EOU defeated OIT, 90-84, but not before falling in a close game, 55-47, to SOU.
• Against Southern Oregon, the Mountaineers were in a defensive battle the whole night as neither team shot over 40% in the game. Adyson Harris led the offense with 12 points. 
• Against Oregon Tech, tempo was the theme with EOU winning a back-and-forth scoring affair by six points. Sailor Liefke scored a career-high 38 points to lead the way for EOU.

Previously Against LC State/Walla Walla
• EOU and LC State met last season one time in a non-conference bout. The Warriors edged the Mountaineers 79-61 in the lone contest of the year between the two squads. 
• All-time, EAstern and LC State have squared off eight times and are 4-4 against each other. This weekend's game in La Grande will be the first ever home match-up for EOU against the Warriors.
• The Mountaineers and Wolves did not play one another in the 2020-21 season. They last met in 2019-20, twice, with Eastern winning both contests, 67-58 and 96-55.
• All-time, EOU is 27-0 against Walla Walla since 2008-09. At home, the Mountaineers own a 12-0 record against the Wolves.

Cleaning Up the Boards
• Through 11 games this season, the Mountaineers have grabbed 40-plus rebounds in eight.
• Eastern has out-rebounded  its opponents in nine games this season.
• EOU has grabbed 10-plus offensive boards in seven games.
• The Mountaineers had a season best of 51 rebounds against William Jessup.

Mountaineers vs. the CCC
• All-time, EOU is 333-138 in conference games since the CCC was formed as an NAIA affiliated conference in 1993.
• The Mountaineers have finished with a .500 record or better 22 times in CCC play and have done so in each of the last 20 seasons.
• Eastern has won 13 CCC Regular Season Championships and six CCC Tournament Titles.
• The Mountaineers are 303-80 against CCC opponents under the direction of Anji Weissenfluh.
• EOU has won 11 CCC regular season crowns and six tournament titles under Coach Weissenfluh.

Scouting the Competition
LC State Warriors

• The Warriors enter the weekend undefeated at 9-0 overall and are 3-0 in CCC play. They are currently receiving votes in the latest NAIA top-25 poll as well.
• Offensively, the Warriors average 73.3 points per game on 43.2% shooting overall and 33.2% from deep. They dish out 15.4 assists per game.
• Defensively, LC State is holding opponents to 56.7 points per game on 33.1% shooting. Opponents shoot 26.7% from deep against LC State, but give up 46.3 rebounds per game to them. The Warriors average 7.9 steals and 5.0 blocks per game, respectively.
• Callie Stevens is the leading scorer at 13.7 points per game. She shoots 44.8% overall and 38.7% from deep. She is second in assists with 24 and averages 2.7 per game.
• Maddie Holm leads the way in assists with 25 and dishes out 2.8 per game. She also has a team best 15 steals and is second in scoring at 12.2 points per game.
• Holm is also the team leader in rebounds at 11.1 per game and has grabbed 100 total boards this season.
• Third in scoring is Sara Muehlhausen at 10.6 points per game. She shoots 51.3% from the field and leads the team in blocks with 18. She is second in rebounding at 9.0 per game.
• Adyson Clabby is third in assists at 23 and has just four turnovers this year. She sports a 5.75 assist-turnover ratio.

Walla Walla Wolves
• The Wolves are just 1-9 this season overall and are 0-3 against CCC opponents. They are currently on a four-game losing streak.
• The Wolves average just 51.8 points per game and shoot 34.7% from the floor. They shoot just 21.6% from three-point range and dish out 7.8 assists per game.
• Defensively, WWU is giving up 69.0 points per game on 42.5% shooting. Opponents shoot 34.1% against them from deep. WWU grabs just 25.3 rebounds per game, tallies 7.8 steals per game and 1.3 blocks per game.
• Carolina Montes-Estrada is the leading scorer at 15.3 points per game on 36.2% shooting. She also leads the way in assists with 23 and averages 2.3 per game. She has 16 steals as well.
• Jaliyah Casem is second in scoring at 11.3 points per game. She is the team leader in steals with 26 to go along with 14 assists.
• Isabella Robles is the only other double-digit scorer at 10.4 points per game. She leads the way in rebounding at 6.88 boards per game and has a team-high eight blocks.
• Clara Campos Wiltgen Guimaraes is second in rebounding at 4.0 per game.

Up Next
• The Mountaineers will not return to the hardwood until the end of the calendar year with a pair of road CCC games. EOU will face Corban on Dec. 31 at 5:30 p.m., followed by Bushnell on Jan. 1 at 3 p.m
