Mountaineers Shutout Geoducks in Regular Season Finale

OLYMPIA, Wash. - Eastern Oregon Women's Soccer closed out regular season play in style with a 3-0 road shutout over Evergreen State College. The wins puts the Mountaineers record at 11-5-0 overall and 8-4-0 in CCC play.

How it Happened
• The Mountaineers racked up 24 shots in the win and had 17 come on goal. Their defense held the Geoducks (3-11-1, 3-9-0 CCC) to just six shots and only three were on frame.
• Two of the Mountaineers' three goals came in the first frame. Netting the first goal was Mackinley Gregus in the ninth minute on an assist from Morgan Farrington.
• The score remained at 1-0 until the 38th minute when Kana Mateaki scored to make it 2-0. She played a pass from Alexandria Segeberg to put the Mounties up by two.
• The score grew to 3-0 in the first 10 minutes of the second period. Kasey Johnson found the back of the net on an assist from Chloe Flynn in the 52nd minute to put EOU up by three.
• Corner kicks favor Eastern in the win at 11-2. They also were a bit more aggressive than the Geoducks at 21-13.

Mountaineers Stat Leaders
• Mackinley Gregus finished with three shots, all on goal, and scored once in the win.
• Kasey Johnson finished with a goal scored and tallied two shots.
• Kana Mateaki also had three shots, all on goal, and scored in the win.
• In net, Madeline Barker tallied two saves in the win in 61 minutes of play.

For the Geoducks
• Madison Spenker had the most shots at three in the loss with two coming on goal.
• Goalkeeper Lucky Backus had 14 saves in 90 minutes of action.

By the Numbers
9 - Eastern posted nine shutouts during the regular season.
8 - The Mountaineers have now won 8 straight contests against Evergreen State.
7 - EOU finishes the regular season with seven wins on the road.

• The Mountaineers are in the postseason for the CCC Tournament and will now await what their seeding will be. They currently sith fifth in the conference standings.
