LA GRANDE, Ore. - Mountaineer Men's Soccer got Senior Weekend started on a positive note as they took down Carroll College, 1-0, inside Community Stadium. With the win, EOU improves to 5-8-0 overall and is 5-5-0 in conference play.
How it Happened
• It was a close battle from start to finish with the Saints (4-6-2, 4-4-2 CCC) barely outshooting the Mountaineers 12-11 overall and 8-5 in shots on goal.
• Defensively,
Dalton Mauzay made key stops in net, while true freshman
Ryan Brown came up big with his first goal of the season.
• The first period of play was a scoreless one despite the two teams combining for nine shots. Carroll took five and had four come on frame, while EOU totaled four and had two on frame.
• Play was aggressive the whole night and EOU went into halftime with five fouls while the Saints had three.
• It was in the 58th minute of the second frame where the Mounties ended the scoreless bout. The goal came on a corner kick by EOU, which was the only corner kick for the team all night.

Rudy Salinas-Solorio lined up the kick and got on the inside left portion of the penalty area where
Ryan Brown nailed a header goal in stride to make it a 1-0 lead.
• The Saints applied pressure in the frame with seven shots but the Mountaineers matched them with seven as well to keep pace. Carroll had four shots on goal while EOU had three and converted one.
• Mauzay and the Mountaineers defense held composure to secure the 1-0 win at home. EOU added 13 fouls in the second period to finish with 18, while the Saints had just five called on them.
