Hustlin' Owls Best Mountaineers, 2-0, Inside Community Stadium

LA GRANDE, Ore. - Mountaineer Men's Soccer suffered its fourth conference loss of the 2021 season Friday evening as they fell to in-state foe Oregon Tech, 2-0, inside Community Stadium. With the loss, Eastern Oregon is now 4-7-0 overall and 4-4-0 in conference play.

How it Happened
• Defense was stout on both sides, but it was OIT (12-1-0, 8-1-0 CCC) that had the edge holding EOU to just two shots. Eastern gave up 28 shots to the Hustlin' Owls and had 10 saves in the loss.
• Despite OIT putting up 28 shots, the Mountaineers held the high-scoring Hustlin' Owls to just two goals over the 90 minute period. In net, Dalton Mauzay and Noah Galow combined for 10 saves.
• OIT scored in the first 10 minutes of play to grab the one-goal edge. Brock Rideout tallied a header goal on an assist from Anthony Santillan on a corner kick to put the Hustlin' Owls ahead 1-0 in the ninth minute.
• The score remained at 1-0 for the rest of the frame in OIT's favor. Going into the halftime break, the Hustlin' Owls held a 9-2 shots edge over the Mounties but just one shot was on goal.
• In the second period, the Mountaineers defense held Oregon Tech to a one-goal lead for the majority of the frame. On the flip side though, OIT did not surrender a shot to EOU.
• The Hustlin' Owls made it a two-goal advantage in the 80th minute with another corner kick goal. Jack Warner played a header goal cleanly thanks to the assist by Keanu Shrivronsana to bring the score to its final of 2-0.
• In the second period, Oregon Tech posted 19 shots and had 10 come on goal. Fouls went to Eastern who had 13 to just five by OIT. Corner kicks also favored OIT at 10-1.

Mountaineers Stat Leaders
• Dalton Mauzay got the start in net and tallied five saves in 58 minutes of action.
• Noah Galow finished out the final 32 minutes at goalkeeper and also had five saves.
• Greg Rodriguez had the lone shot on goal for EOU, while Alexander Watters tallied one shot.

For the Hustlin' Owls
• Brock Rideout scored the gamewinner and finished with just one shot on goal.
• Jack Warner scored the second goal and had two shots taken in the match.
• Taking the most shots in the win was Cade O'Neill with 10 and had four come on goal.
• Tallying assists were Anthony Santillan and Keanu Shrivronsana.
• In net, Joel Witts had one save for the shutout.

By the Numbers
5 - This is the fifth time this season EOU has been shutout.
