Mountaineers Take Down More Records in Nike Indoor Invite

BOISE, Idaho – A number of program records went down on Friday and Saturday as the Eastern Oregon track and field teams enjoyed more successes at the Jackson's/Nike Indoor Invite.

Sophomore Megan Bolton continued to reset the EOU record books, already with the women's 600 record, as she set both 60-meter dash and 400 meter records this weekend.

She crushed the school record in the 400 meters with a time of 56.19 seconds as she took first place in the stacked event against numerous NCAA Division I opponents from Boise State, BYU, Utah State and others. The mark was easily good for an NAIA 'A' standard mark. Bolton also took fifth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.82 seconds, also breaking the school record with a 'B' standard mark to nationals.

Two other records went down as both the men's and women's 4x800 relays established new program records and each qualified for nationals.

The women's relay of Olivia Lane, Katie Jo Gebhardt, Calista Van Delden and Michelle Herbes ran a time of 9:35.44 to take fifth place overall with an auto qualifier to nationals. The men's side of the relay featuring Travis Running, Alex Navarro, Hunter Schiess and Dustin Zimmerly ran a school record time of 7:49.55 for another auto qualifier.

The women's 4x400 relay of Lane, Herbes, Bolton and Elizabeth Herbes took third place overall with a time of 3:55.80, improving their auto qualifying time for nationals with the No. 3 time in EOU history.

Maggie Ledbetter had personal bests in both the weight throw and shot put. In the shot, she took second place at 13.56 meters, improving her already auto qualifying mark in the event. She took seventh in the weight throw at 14.91 meters as she moved to within a meter of a provisional mark to nationals.

Payton Jolley had a strong day in the triple jump, hitting a provisional mark at 11.31 meters as she placed sixth. The mark was a PR for her by nearly a foot, moving to No. 3 all-time at Eastern.

Navarro took second place in the one mile run with a time of 4:19.54 that would be just short of an auto mark before time adjustments. Hunter Schiess took eighth in the same event at 4:28.24.

Corey Sledge matched his PR in the pole vault at 5.10 meters as he remains qualified for nationals, taking seventh place on Saturday.

Allexander Kosel placed third in the long jump with a distance of 6.79 meters, just 0.21 meters away from a provisional mark.

Cody Milmine placed ninth in the 200 meter dash at 22.38 seconds. Dustin Zimmerly took seventh in the 800 meters in 1:58.56, followed by Travis Running in eighth in 1:59.10.

John Stuvland took fifth and John Brown placed sixth in the men's high jump. Stuvland hit a height of 1.86 meters, while Brown reached a height of 1.76 meters.

In other top-10 marks in program history, Kinnah Rhodes tied for the fifth best time in the 60-meter dash at 8 seconds flat. Scout Reagan bumped up to No. 10 in the event in 8.09. Elizabeth Herbes ran the eighth best time in the 200 meters in 26.06. Michelle Herbes had the seventh best mark in the 800 as she placed fourth in 2:19.80. Katie Jo Gebhardt was not far behind in sixth in 2:23.28. Carlee Heindel posted the ninth best time in 60-meter hurdles in 9.60, finishing third among Mountaineers behind Rhodes and Jolley.

The Mountaineers are next at the Boise State Team Challenge next Saturday in the team's final meet before the NAIA Indoor Championships March 5-7 in Brookings, South Dakota.
