EOU Athletics Ranks Program-Best 3rd in NAIA Learfield Standings

LA GRANDE, Ore. – After the conclusion of indoor track and field and men's wrestling NAIA Championships, Eastern Oregon athletics moved up to No. 3 in the prestigious NAIA Learfield IMG College Director's Cup Standings on Thursday, which ranks the top overall programs in the country.
 
The Mountaineers have 436 points in the latest standings, adding 174 so far during the winter sports season. Women's track and field led the way with their seventh place finish, earning 72 points. Men's track and field accumulated 56 points for their 17th-place finish and men's wrestling earned 46 for taking 28th.
 
The ranking is the highest for EOU in program history, who ranked fourth in the standings after fall with the exception of football. EOU earned points in the standings during the fall from women's and men's soccer, volleyball, and men's and women's cross country.
 
Lindsey Wilson is ranked first in the standings with 559 points, earning 265 points in winter. Indiana Wesleyan is ranked second with 486.5 points.
 
The Mountaineers are the top ranked Cascade Conference program out of seven in the top-100. College of Idaho comes in at No. 8 with 393 points, followed by Southern Oregon in 14th, Oregon Tech in 42nd and Corban in 55th.
 
Additionally, EOU ranks second in the latest CCC all-sports standings. The Mounties have 172.31 points with a second place finish in women's basketball, fourth place finishes in men's and women's basketball and fifth place in men's basketball.
 
Southern Oregon leads the CCC standings with 191.51 points.
