Bolton Breaks another Record at Boise State Team Challenge

BOISE, Idaho – Sophomore Megan Bolton continues to reset the Eastern Oregon track and field record books as she set her fourth program record this year, leading the Mountaineers at the Boise State Team Challenge on Saturday.

Bolton, already with records in the 60, 400 and 600-meter races, broke her fourth record in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 24.88 seconds to win the event. Teammate Jasmine Devers set the record earlier this year in 25.18, but Bolton was able best that and auto qualified for nationals with the time.

Senior Alex Navarro placed second in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:36.48. Prior to conversions due to the track, his time would be well below the NAIA auto qualifying standard.

Sophomore Michelle Herbes took fifth in the 400 meter dash out of 40 runners. Her time of 58.40 seconds is good for an auto qualifier to nationals prior to adjustments due to the course length.

Allexander Kosel had a great day overall in the jumps. In the triple jump, he hit a provisional mark with a distance of 14.19 meters, placing second overall. Then in the high jump, Kosel placed third with a height of 2.00 meters, which came up just one centimeter short of a provisional qualifying mark to nationals.

Payton Jolley improved upon her provisional triple jump mark by 0.02 meters, reaching a distance of 11.33 meters as she took eighth place.

Corey Sledge continued to crush the competition in the pole vault, placing first place easily as he hit a height of 4.85 meters, just below his season best that auto qualified him to nationals.

Freshman Cody Milmine took fourth place overall in the 60-meter dash, finishing with a time of 7.02 seconds. He also placed fifth in the 200 meters in 22.22 seconds. Dustin Zimmerly took seventh in the 800 meters, crossing the finish line in 1:57.15.

Finishing the day, the women's 4x400 relay of Herbes, Olivia Lane, Bolton and Elizabeth Herbes took third overall with a time of 3:57.29, just a couple seconds off their best mark on the season.

The men's 4x400 took third place overall as the quartet of Milmine, Felipe Madero, Travis Running and Zimmerly finished in 3:25.71.

With the completion of the event, the Mountaineers will look ahead to the NAIA Indoor Championships, which take place March 5-7 in the Brookings, South Dakota.
