Mounties Drop 68-57 Battle to Warriors

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Corban University used a 22-11 fourth quarter advantage to defeat the No. 18 Eastern Oregon women's basketball team 68-57 on Saturday night at Quinn Coliseum in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.
 
The two teams entered the fourth quarter tied 46-46, but the Warriors (10-5, 6-1 CCC) went on a 11-2 run over the next five minutes to go ahead 57-48. A three-pointer for Corban with 2:31 left made the score 62-51 and effectively iced the game in favor of the Warriors.
 
The Mountaineers (9-7, 3-3 CCC) tied a season-high with 10 made three pointers, but shot just 36 percent overall and reached the free-throw line a season-low five times.
 
Senior Madison Crews went 4-for-7 from behind the arc in a breakout game this year for the guard, tying for a team-high of 15 points, adding four rebound and three assists. Fellow senior Jane Nelson also had 15 points an four rebounds while six other Mounties got on the scoreboard. Sophomore Beverly Slater had a team-high 10 rebounds, adding four points.
 
The Mounties had a tough time slowing down All-American Jordan Woodvine, who led all players with 22 points. The Warriors had nine scorers on the night as they spread the ball around efficiently. They made 40 percent of their field goals and went 15-for-17 at the free throw line.
 
The Blue and Gold will head back on the road with their first three-game losing streak since 2015. EOU will visit Evergreen on Friday in Olympia, Washington, followed by at Northwest on Jan. 11 in Kirkland.
