Mountaineers Easily Handle Geoducks 88-63

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Junior transfer Megan Still finished with Mountaineer career-highs of 22 points and nine rebounds as the No. 18 Eastern Oregon women's basketball team downed Evergreen State 88-63 on the road in Cascade Collegiate Conference play on Friday night.
 
Still needed just 21 minutes to total career-highs on a big night. The junior shot 10-for-15 from the field, making two three-pointers, pulling down four offensive rebounds while adding two steals on an all-around strong night.
 
The Mountaineers (10-7, 4-3 CCC) shot over 50 percent overall to end their three-game losing streak and earn their first win of the new year. EOU also made 12 three pointers as a team, led by three apiece by seniors Jane Nelson and Whitney Meier and junior Taylor Stricklin.
 
Stricklin finished the night with 14 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Senior Rachel Fielder had 13 points and eight rebounds, Meier added 13 points and senior Kylie Smith and 10 points and eight boards. Senior Emma Logan added a career-high 14 assists and Nelson had nine points.
 
The Blue and Gold won every quarter of the game, using a big first quarter to jump ahead 23-10. Out of the halftime locker room, the Mounties went on an 18-3 run over six minutes that gave them a game-high 29-point lead 60-31.
 
The Mountaineers will look to keep rolling on Saturday, visiting Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington at 5:30 p.m.
