Multiple Mounties Hit National Qualifiers at Bronco Invite

BOISE, Idaho – The Eastern Oregon track and field teams enjoyed a successful meet on Saturday at the Bronco Invite as a number of Mountaineers hit national qualifying marks.

Sophomore Megan Bolton and junior Megan Boals each broke the record in the women's 600-meter run to lead the day. Bolton now ranks first in the EOU record books with a time 1:35.95 while Boals is not far behind at 1:37.21. Bolton's time was also good for an automatic qualifier to nationals while Boals earned a provisional mark.

The men's pole vault also had two national qualifiers. NAIA outdoor national champion Corey Sledge matched his championship mark with a height of 5.10 meters, easily exceeding the 'A' standard mark and ranking him No. 1 in the NAIA so far this season. Freshman Noah Chaney impressed as well as he hit a provisional mark with a height of 4.65 meters to take third overall.

Jasmine Devers had a pair of strong sprints for the Mountaineers. The freshman had the No. 2 time in EOU history in the 200-meters in 25.43 seconds that was good for a provisional national qualifying mark. She also had a strong run in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8 seconds flat, ranking No. 4 in EOU history.

The women's 4x400 relay team of Devers, Michelle Herbes, Bolton and Elizabeth Herbes also had a provisional mark as they finished in 3:58.50 for the No. 6 time in program history.

Sophomore Maggie Ledbetter hit a provisional mark in the shot put, but has already qualified with an auto mark in the team's first meet prior to the new year.

Freshman Cody Milmine bumped up one spot in the men's 200 meters with a time of 22.49 to rank third at EOU. John Brown remained ranked eighth all-time in the triple jump, improving his PR by 44 centimeters.

The Mountaineers will return to Boise next weekend for the Ed Jacoby Invite & Multis on Friday and Saturday.
