Corban Downs EOU Men’s Soccer 6-1

SALEM, Calif. – The Eastern Oregon men's soccer team was unable to get going on Saturday, falling to Corban 6-1 in Cascade Conference action.

The Warriors (4-0-1, 2-0-0 CCC) got rolling early with a 10th minute goal. They made it 2-0 in the 37th, taking that score into the halftime locker room, despite barely leading in shots 7-6.

In the second half, the Mountaineers (2-4-1, 0-2-0 CCC) couldn't buy a break, outshooting the Warriors 11-7, but didn't see many results in the net. On the other side, Corban continued to find pay dirt with four more goals, including two just 45 seconds apart. The Warriors made good on all their shots on goal, going 6-for-6.

The Mounties finally got on the board in the 89th minute as Javier Moran tallied his second of the year. It was too little too late, however, as EOU fell 6-1.

The Blue and Gold ended the match with a 17-14 shot advantage including 8-6 on goal. They also had an advantage in corners, with five compared to Corban's three. Calvin Mitchell paced the team with four shots including two on goal.

The Mountaineers will have one road match next week, visiting rival College of Idaho on Friday at 1:30 p.m. Mountain time in Caldwell, Idaho.
