DeLong, Jacobs Selected NAIA Honorable Mention All-Americans

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For another year, the Eastern Oregon football team ends the year with at least one All-American as juniors Sage DeLong and Zackary Jacobs each received honorable mention accolades for the 2019 season.

After being selected first team by the Frontier Conference the last two years, DeLong found his way onto the All-American team with another standout season.
 
Despite not posting the same sack totals from a year ago, DeLong was just as, if not more, disruptive opposing offenses in 2019. The junior was keyed on by every team EOU went up against this year, often facing double teams for most of games.
 
DeLong recorded a team-high 4.5 sacks including an impressive 13 tackles for loss. He had 50 total tackles that included 25 solo stops, adding three pass break-ups and three quarter back hurries. DeLong also had one fumble forced. He was named the NAIA Defensive Player of the Week on Sep. 9 with five tackles for loss and three sacks.
 
Zackary Jacobs • Safety • Junior • NAIA Honorable Mention All-American
 
Jacobs had another strong year in his second season as a starting safety for the Eastern Oregon football team, and was rewarded with his first All-American award.
 
Jacobs was a dynamic playmaker for EOU, leading the team with four interceptions. The junior also had a fumble recovery to account for five turnovers and two pass breakups. Jacobs also helped against the run game, finishing with 51 total tackles including 19 solo tackles.
 
The Mountaineers finished the year 4-7 overall and 4-6 in the conference, but will be excited to return their two All-Americans for 2020.
