EOU Receiving Votes in NAIA Poll, 5 Individuals Ranked in Top-20

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Eastern Oregon men's wrestling team remains receiving votes in the second NAIA Top-20 Poll of the 2019-20 season.
 
The Mountaineers earned the 24th most points in the poll with 26 points. This is an improvement from the season's first poll as they received 17 points after starting the season very successfully with an 8-3 record in duals and a first place finish at the Spokane Open. The Mounties only losses are to North Idaho and two top-20 teams in No. 17 Montana State-Northern and then-No. 7 Southeastern.
 
EOU also has five individual wrestler in the top-20 of their respective weight classes. Sophomore Keegan Mulhill ranks the highest of all Mountaineer individuals at No. 12 in the 174-pound weight class. With just one loss on the season, junior Marco Retano moved into the top-20 for the first time, ranking No. 15 at 184 pounds.
 
Also in the top-20 is sophomore Ryan Redford at No. 16 at 197 pounds, senior Blake McNall ranked 17th at 141 pounds and junior Josh Pine at 19th at 165 pounds.
 
EOU battles in one of the toughest conferences in the NAIA with a number of teams represented in the poll, including No. 11 Embry-Riddle, No. 13 Menlo, No. 14 Providence, No. 18 Montana State-Northern along with Warner Pacific, Southern Oregon, Corban, Arizona Christian, Life Pacific, Simpson and Vanguard receiving results.
 
The Mounties next compete after the New Year on Jan. 11 against Big Bend Community College at Quinn Coliseum at 6 p.m.
