Ledbetter Hits Auto Qualifier to Open Track & Field Season at Jackson’s Open

BOISE, Idaho – Sophomore Maggie Ledbetter punched her ticket to the NAIA Indoor Championships in the first meet of the season, Saturday at the Jackson's Open to lead the Eastern Oregon track and field teams.
 
Ledbetter had personal bests in both the shot put and weight throw, surpassing the NAIA automatic qualifying mark in the shot put with a shot of 13.49 meters. Her mark gave her a second place finish in the event and ranked third all-time in the Eastern Oregon record books.
 
In the weight throw, Ledbetter had a nearly four-foot personal record with a long toss of 14.48 meters as she took fifth and had the 10th best mark in EOU history.
 
The women's team had overall strong performances in the 60 meter hurdles,  where four different competitors landed in the top-25 all-time at EOU. Senior Kinnah Rhodes had the standout performance as she placed fourth overall, finishing with the second best time in program history of 9.21 seconds. That was after she had a PR in the prelims of 9.37 seconds.
 
Also in the women's 60-meter hurdles, junior Payton Jolley had her best time of 9.60 seconds, ranking seventh all-time. Freshman Carlee Hindel finished in 9.71 for 13th all-time while sophomore Cheyanne Collins crossed in 9.87 seconds for 16th in the record books.
 
In the men's 60-meter dash, freshman Cody Milmine took fifth place overall with a time of 7 seconds flat. The freshman only finished behind four NCAA Division I athletes from Washington State and Boise State. His mark also ranks third all-time at EOU. In the 200-meters, Milmine also placed fourth and captured the fourth best time in program history at 22.56 seconds.
 
Fellow freshman Noah Chaney took second in the men's pole vault, clearing a height of 4.60 meters that was just 0.05 off the provisional qualifying mark for nationals. His mark tied him for 10th all-time at EOU.
 
In the women's high jump, Collins tied for first in the event with a height of 1.55 meters. Freshman Karli Bedard also hit 1.55 meters but placed third due to a tiebreaker. The pair both tied for the No. 12 marks in program history.
 
The women's pole vault pair of Faith Wagner and Alex Partch hit marks of 3.10 meters and 2.95 meters, respectively. Wagner took sixth and Partch placed seventh.
 
Sophomore James Dudley placed second in the men's long jump with a mark of 6.53 peters, landing him No. 12 on the all-time list. He was followed by Allexander Kosel in fourth and John Brown in seventh. Brown also took fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.55 meters.
 
In other top finishes, junior Sam Roddewig placed third in the 600-meter run with a  time of 1:31.00 and eighth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.10 seconds. Junior Olivia Lane placed fourth in the high jump at 1.50 meters and took eighth in the long jump at 4.82 meters. Sophomore Adam Kopf took sixth in the weight throw with a PR of 14.17 meters. Senior Elizabeth Herbes snagged fifth in the women's 600 meters in 1:38.40.
 
The Mountaineer track and field teams will be off until 2020, next competing at the Lauren McClusky Multi on Jan. 11 or the Bronco Invitational on Jan. 18.
