No. 4 EOU Handles Multnomah in 3 Sets

PORTLAND, Ore. – The No. 4 Eastern Oregon volleyball team moved one win away from clinching at least a share of a second-straight Cascade Collegiate Conference title, sweeping Multnomah (25-16, 25-7, 25-13) on Friday night.

On the second-to-last night of the CCC regular season, the Mountaineers (27-2, 17-2 CCC) continued their quest for a conference title with another dominating effort on Friday night.

The Mounties hit .317 for the night, their third highest hitting percentage of the season. This was highlighted by an incredible .636 hitting percentage in the second set, which featured seven kills on just 11 attacks with no errors. EOU also hit .414 in the third set.

On the defensive side, the Blue and Gold held the Lions to a -.087 hitting percentage with 20 kills to 28 attack errors. EOU finished with eight blocks on the night to help contribute to Multnomah's low hitting percentage.

Sophomore Jet Taylor finished with eight kills and a .467 hitting percentage, adding four block assists. Senior Megan Bunn also had eight kills with eight digs while senior Taylor Tibbetts posted seven kills. Junior Madison Pilon posted a double-double with 20 assists and 10 digs while junior Kiley McMurtrey also had 10 digs.

The Mountaineers head into the final match of the regular season tied atop the CCC standings with Southern Oregon with matching 17-2 records. The Raiders currently hold the tiebreaker over EOU for the No. 1-seed and potential hosts of the postseason tournament, but the team's would finish as co-champions if they finish with matching records.

EOU competes the regular season on Saturday at Warner Pacific at 5 p.m.
