Seventh-Straight Win Ends in A Sweep for No. 5 EOU Volleyball

LA GRANDE, Ore. - The No. 5 Eastern Oregon women's volleyball team won its seventh-straight game against Warner Pacific (3-10, 2-7 CCC) Friday night in three sets (25-17, 25-22, 26-24). With this sweep, the tenth of the season, the Mountaineers are now 18-1 overall and 8-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

Once again, senior outside hitter Megan Bunn lead the team with 10 kills, adding 12 digs for a double-double on the night. Sophomores Cambree Scott racked up eight kills and three blocks and Jet Taylor tallied seven kills and a team high of five blocks.

Junior setter Madison Pilon led the team in assists at 22 and had 14 digs. Junior defensive specialist Aspen Christiansen also accumulated 14 digs.

Overall the Mountaineer's dominated kills, aces, and assists over WPU. However, on defense, the Knights and the Mountaineers both had eight blocks and the Knights dug just four more balls with 66 while EOU finished with 64 digs.

In the first set the Mountaineers, trailing 11-6 early, came from behind to win by six, 25-17. In the second set, EOU used the momentum from their first set win to pull away early 6-1, causing a Knight time out. Despite a late comeback by the Knights making it close at 24-22, the Mountaineer's took the set away and ended with a kill by Jet Taylor. The third set, much like the first, had a strong seven-point comeback by EOU late as they earned four points in a row to finish the match at 26-24.

For Warner Pacific, Grace Buchanan had a team high of 10 kills and Haley Yoder had six. Matalasi Laban paced the team with 16 assist and Mercedes Massey led all players with 23 digs.

The Mountaineers continue their CCC weekend with Multnomah Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
