Box Score ASHLAND, Ore. - The No. 6 Eastern Oregon women's soccer team got back to its winning form Saturday afternoon at Southern Oregon, defeating the Raiders, who are receiving votes in the NAIA Top-25 Poll, in a tightly contested 1-0 battle in a CCC match up.
After suffering their first loss of the season Friday to unranked Oregon Tech, the No. 6 Mountaineers (8-1-2, 5-1-1 CCC) were determined not to be beaten again on the road trip.
Conceding three goals on Friday, EOU limited SOU (5-4-2, 2-2-2 CCC) to two shots on goal for their seventh shutout of the year.
Junior
Camie Edgington nearly had the break for the Mountaineers in the first half when her shot bounced off the crossbar and landed just in front of the goal line. Â
Six minutes after the break, the Mounties broke the deadlock and took the lead 1-0. Senior
Jenna Jensen found some space in the attack and slotted
Nan Kiebert through the defense where she collected her seventh goal in as many games.
Eastern Oregon ended Southern Oregon's 14-game unbeaten streak at Raider Stadium, earning shutouts in the last three meetings between the teams. In addition, the Raiders have not been shut out at home since 2017 when the first EOU regular season and conference champions defeated them 4-0.
Sophomore
Kaitlyn McLeod led both teams in shots with three and one on goal. Jensen, Kiebert and
Morgan Farrington each tallied two.
The team will travel to Billings, Montana next Friday to face Rocky Mountain College as CCC play continues.
