Mounties Draw Embry-Riddle in Arizona 1-1

PRESCOTT, Ariz. – In the second contest of a three-match roadtrip in Arizona, the Eastern Oregon men's soccer team battled out a hard earned 1-1 draw at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical on Saturday night.

The Mountaineers (1-1-1) went back and forth with the Eagles, but drew first blood early in the 52nd minute when senior forward Elvis Pavon netted his first goal of the season on a pass from defender Jack Rose.

EOU held the lead for just over 17 minutes before ERAU answered with the tying goal in the 69th minute when Grant Rowe found the back of the Eastern net.

The match headed to overtime where the Eagles put on high pressure, especially in the second overtime period, outshooting EOU 5-1 in the final 20 minutes. A late chance just before the final horn for ERAU went wide of the goal.

Senior goalkeeper Aidan Wright stood tall for the Mounties, making six saves to earn the draw. Alastair Stark of the Eagles made six saves.

The Mountaineers finished with 15 total shots to ERAU's 22, but had a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks. Pavon paced the team with three shots on goal, while senior midfielder Abraham Garcia had three total shots and two on frame.

The Blue and Gold finish the Arizona road trip on Monday against Ottawa (Ariz.) in Surprise, Arizona. Kick off is scheduled for 10 a.m.
