Men Ranked 1st in USTFCCCA Program of the Year Standings

NEW ORLEANS, La. - U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the Post-Indoor Standings for NAIA Program of the Year on Tuesday, as Eastern Oregon was selected the best men's program in the nation, at the moment, with 13.5 points.
 
For those who don't know, "USTFCCCA Program of the Year Award honors the institution that has achieved the most success in each academic year (cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field) based on the institution's finish at the NCAA Championships."
 
The Mountaineers ended a successful NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships, with multiple athletes earning All-American honors and the men's distance medley relay team (involving freshman Michael Slagowski, sophomores Thomas Morrell III and Dustin Zimmerly and junior Devin Lewis Allen) becoming national champions, carrying the Blue and Gold to a sixth place finish.
 
Slagowski, Morrell III and Zimmerly were also named individual All-Americans.
 
Earlier in the season, the Mounties finished seventh at the NAIA Cross Country Championships, as senior Nic Maszk was named an All-American, The Mountaineers earned a total of 13.5 points for their success in track & field and cross country. Closely followed behind is Indiana Tech with 14 points.
 
The Blue and Gold open the outdoor track and field season on March 17 with the EOU Team Challenge in Hermiston, Oregon.
