No. 21 Mountaineers Drop Road Contest at No. 16 Warner Pacific

PORTLAND, Ore. - The No. 21 Eastern Oregon men's basketball fell on the road to No. 16 Warner Pacific 109-86 on Friday night in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

The Mountaineers (20-5, 12-5 CCC) had a tough day, especially on the defensive end, letting Warner Pacific score 110 points on 59% shooting. A good performance on the offense wasn't enough to win the game as the Mounties shot 50% from the field.

The first 10 minutes of the game were close as the teams went head to head, but after a close start, Warner Pacific (19-7, 13-4) took control of the game and ended the first half with a 13-point lead.

Warner Pacific extended the lead as the game went on, thanks to a 34-point game from Collin Malcolm and a 26 point game from Xavier Cannefax. Malcolm finished 13-for-16 from the field with nine rebounds.

Sophomore guard Max McCullough was the top-scorer for the Mounties with 30 points on 12-for-21 shooting. The conference's leading scorer, McCullough tallied his 15th 20-plus point game of the year and his fourth with 30 or more points. Senior wing Austin Winegar added 13 points.

The Mountaineers will next face Multnomah on Saturday in Portland, Oregon at 7:30 p.m.
