Perfect! No. 6 EOU Finishes CCC Regular Season 20-0

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon women's basketball team became just the third team in Cascade Collegiate Conference history to finish the regular season undefeated, capping off a 20-0 season with a 82-68 victory over No. 10 Southern Oregon Saturday night at Quinn Coliseum on Senior Night.

The No. 6-ranked Mountaineers (27-2, 20-0 CCC) join the 1999-2000 Northwest Nazarene squad (14-0) and the 2012-13 EOU team (18-0) as the only undefeated regular season champions. The 20 wins are most in a single-season in CCC history.

The Blue and Gold battled it out with top-ranked rival Southern Oregon, using a 15-8 advantage in the fourth quarter to close out the 14-point victory. The win is the 19th of the conference season by double-digit points for EOU and their 21st-straight win overall.

On senior night, senior forward Mariah Swanson had a monster game with 21 points and nine rebounds. Swanson drew a late offensive foul and was clutch from the field and the free-throw line down the stretch to keep SOU out of reach of a comeback.

Junior guard Maya Ah You-Dias posted 16 points, while senior guard Payton Parrish had 15 points and nine rebounds. Fellow senior guard Reece Bauer finished with 10 assists, six rebounds and five points.

The Mounties led for nearly the entire game, falling behind 2-0 in the opening seconds before taking the lead for good. They led for nearly 39 minutes.

The CCC's leading scorer, Remi Mejia, had 16 points to lead SOU, but fouled out in the fourth quarter, putting a damper in SOU's comeback hopes. Ariel Augustine had 13 points and Toria Bradford added 11.

Before the game, the Mounties honored seniors Swanson, Parrish, Bauer, guard Jessica Sexson and forward Stormee Van Belle, who were playing their final regular season games in Quinn Coliseum. They'll be back, however, in just a few short days.

The win caps off an incredible regular season for EOU as they head into the CCC Championships as the No. 1-seed. They will host No. 8-seed Evergreen on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Quinn Coliseum. Southern Oregon will be the No. 2-seed and host No. 7 Warner Pacific on Tuesday in Ashland, Oregon. Both teams could be poised for a rematch in the finals of the tournament, which would take place once again in La Grande.
